The two businesses will concentrate on so-called Level 2 plus autonomous driving, which offers features like assisted cruise control and lane centering to temporarily let drivers take their hands off the wheel.
System on a chip, or SoC, is a new class of semiconductors created by Ambarella that combines several CPUs on a single logic board and performs artificial intelligence processing.
According to the statement, the two companies will collaboratively develop the technology, which will include high-resolution cameras, radar, and lidar sensors along with the appropriate software from Continental.
A long-range lidar sensor based on AEye's patents has been integrated into the German auto supplier's existing short-range lidar technology to complement it. The German auto supplier also owns a minority position in another California-based company, lidar startup AEye.
Continental creates ground-breaking products and services for the linked, sustainable movement of people and their things. The technological business, which was established in 1871, provides safe, effective, intelligent, and reasonably priced solutions for machines, traffic, and transportation.
Digitalization, sustainability, efficiency, and cost-cutting are as much a part of the automotive industry as road safety, comfort, and convenience while driving. These trends are having an impact on the industry in addition to trend-setting technologies like automated and autonomous driving, electrification, smart infotainment, and holistic connectivity.
